Tesla in India: From Maharashtra to Bengal, states are competing over Tesla production

Elon Musk, co-founder of Tesla, tweeted that the American electric vehicle major is trying to overcome some difficulties with the center to take the company to India.

The tweet, which received some information from the customer about his arrangements for India, then prompted a handful of political pioneers and clergy to welcome many rich people to set up shop in their states.

Musk announced in 2020 that Tesla would install assembly units for electric vehicles in India.

In January 2021, Tesla established a subsidiary of India Motors and Energy Pvt Ltd in Bangalore, according to the Economic Times.

According to PTI, Tesla expects a reduction in import duty on electric vehicles (EVs) in India.

Waiti Ventures Service has asked the Electric Vehicle Major to start manufacturing its iconic electric vehicles in India.

Central government sources noted that no such automaker was offering such concessions and that granting liability benefits to Tesla would not send good news to the various companies that have invested billions of dollars in India.

We need to explore who welcomed Tesla for the business and what the offers are:

Maharashtra

On Sunday, Maharashtra service giant Jayant Patil created a comparative pitch for “perhaps the most moderate states in India”.

"Maharashtra may be the most moderate state in India. We will provide all the major assistance from Maharashtra to set you up in India. We welcome you to set up your assembly plant in Maharashtra," he said.

West Bengal

MD Ghulam Rabbani, from Bengal for Minority Development and Madrasa School Education, welcomed Tesla to his state and received a sharp response from the BJP. 14 years ago.

"Leave it here, we have the best infrastructure in West Bengal and our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has a vision. Bengal represents the business," Rabbani posted on the micro-blogging platform.
